Why is your pre-pregnancy weight important for the health of yourself and your baby during pregnancy?

Over-weight and obesity is now very common in women of child-bearing age. Research tells us that women who are overweight or obese when they become pregnant have an increased risk of complications during pregnancy.

Potential complications for mother:

Potential complications for baby:

  • Excessive growth “macrosomia”
