Over-weight and obesity is now very common in women of child-bearing age. Research tells us that women who are overweight or obese when they become pregnant have an increased risk of complications during pregnancy.
Potential complications for mother:
- Gestational diabetes
- Gestational hypertension
- Preeclampsia (high blood pressure, swelling, protein in urine)
- Caesarean section

- Excessive growth “macrosomia”
